Reaching Out
The question we should all be asking is, can you help this town?
Can you help this town?
Can you help this town?
Can you help this town?
Aydar mulled over the words, trying to decode some secret message that would explain what exactly he had to do with the strange events that had been occurring in the town ever since Mr. Evans died. He was beginning to suspect that the pocket watch he had received had more to do with the strange turn of events than he had previously thought, and above that Jack Stars knew something about it. Admittedly, Aydar was beginning to feel like the character of some fantasy book he had read as a child. Yet, how could he possibly be the hero of anything?
As he set down his groceries to open the door of the Foxberry, Stephanie Greene and her husband Oliver turned the corner of Foxberry Ave. Although they were still a distance from the Foxberry, Aydar could make out a hammer in Stephanie’s hand. She seemed agitated and it made Aydar curious. Why take a walk with your husband and a hammer? Rather than walking hurriedly through the lobby into his nearby apartment, Aydar went about leisurely picking up his bags and carrying each one individually to the door. On his final trip, he bent down to pick up his bag right as Stephanie walked through the door. He eyed the hammer and froze, both excited and scared by the familiar rose-etching. Without a word, he stood up and entered his apartment. Part of him was worried that Stephnie was the mystery sender and that her intentions were dangerous, but he was beginning to lose hope of ever finding an answer. Aydar quickly scribbled on an index card, “rose-etched watch sound familiar? -AS”
Aydar walked up to apartment 309 and hesitated. He traced the faded and chipped paint, the dirt and coffee smudges in his mind. The tiny details centered him. Carefully, he slipped the note under the door, hoping Stephanie would find it and provide some answers.
